Kievit Transport Op- & Overslag is opgericht op 8 augustus 1988. In de eerste jaren hield het bedrijf zich vooral bezig met het vervoer van zeecontainers en suikerbieten. Sinds 1995 is het bedrijf gevestigd aan de Meerweg op Bedrijventerrein De Vriezerbrug in Tynaarlo, en begon het met het vervoer van groente en fruit uit Rusland. Door de toenemende concurrentie is in 1999 besloten om te beginnen met de Op- & Overslag van goederen en te stoppen met het internationale vervoer, en meer te gaan focussen op het binnenlandse vervoer. Vanaf dat moment is Kievit Transport Op- & Overslag gegroeid naar 14 trekkende eenheden met bijbehorende op- & overslag mogelijkheden.
